Meet Tim Allen, CMHC

I began my journey toward becoming a mental health therapist in 2007, after a change in my major from chemistry to psychology. After many years struggling with my own addiction, I was able to take control of my life after entering into treatment for substance use. My experience in treatment lead me to the next step in my personal journey: recovery.

Through my own treatment, I was able to see the impact that counseling had on me. I knew that I was meant to provide that same type of support and empowerment to others who are struggling with addiction and mental health issues. My education began by obtaining my bachelors degree as a Substance Use Counselor, eventually leading me to gain my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. These educational paths allowed me to be equipped to help guide others through their journey toward recovery, and allowing me to gain an additional, more clinical understanding of the mental health issues that accompany addiction. In addition to my work in substance use, I have been fortunate to have worked with people from a variety of diverse backgrounds, concerns and mental health issues. When I am not working with clients one-on-one, I enjoy skiing, mountain biking, hiking, camping, and working out to maintain my own recovery and mental wellness.
